A graduate of Stanford University and formerly a Vice President of Citibank, Mark has over three decades of experience in finance, real estate development and the leisure industry in Asia. After ten years spent as a partner at a leading corporate financial advisory firm based in Jakarta, his focus evolved towards the hotel and leisure sectors, where his pioneering efforts helped change the industry for a new generation of travellers.
In 1992, he purchased Jaya’s family home in the outskirts of Jakarta and helped persuade Jaya, who had long been a resident of London, to return to Indonesia. Mark has since pioneered several successful brands in the leisure industry, most notably as a founding partner of the GHM Indonesia, a subsidiary of the iconic hotel management company GHM. He was a founding partner of Mandara Spa Asia – the first global operator of resort spas. Subsequently, he was a founder of Alila Hotels & Resorts, the renowned operator of stylish and sustainable resorts in Asia. Since the recent merger of Alila into Two Roads Hospitality, he continues to supervise business in Asia, combining his discerning aptitude for business with Jaya’s passion for fine design.
